What Makes You Think You Won't Miss Me?

As I walk through the darkest forest of my mind,
I search for those lost, the friends I once loved.
Only shadows of dark laughter ricochet off the trees.
I must become one with the moon, stars, and the darkness.

I search of answers to this constant sorrow.
Dependable, old friends lie in these shadows.
Loneliness, darkness, fear, and mistrust,
Please hold me close and feel my pain.
Yet, another treacherous trick played on my mind,
Leaves me alone again in an abyss of sorrow?

Such cruelty, in spoken words spewn from an acid tongue,
Inflicting pain on delicate and fragile emotions.
Flowing now is a river of hurt and tears,
A merciless mix of emotions, too confusing to feel.
Trust now drains away like yesterday’s summer rain.

So lucid, transparent, will I ever trust again?
I think not this time! Behind these walls I stay safe.
The clock ticks, and my empty heart loses another precious moment.
Frozen in fear, I stay within these walls of darkness.

Was it all an illusion, a dream, that I let you in?
I exposed myself, and gingerly came out to embrace you,
One step at a time forming a bond of trust.
Did you not mean it was to be forever?
Maybe I am the one who walks in the light after all.
I would have been your shadow forever.

You threw my heart and trust away like yesterday’s news.
Crossing boundaries never again to grace your footsteps.
Now I am broken, like a puzzle never to be finished,
Stashed on mind’s shelf like a pile of shattered glass,
But if touched, surly I will cut my heart to the quick.

You are now, erased from my heart and soul,
Like an equation that will remain unanswered.
Still somehow I know the answer.
I thought I saw inside your soul and heart,
Now you are but a distant fog and lifting from my soul.

As I sit here in solitude, I have to wonder,
What makes a heart so cold to hurt another’s,
Or feel power from crushing another’s soul?
Yes, you truly hurt me, but even more you hurt hurt yourself.
What makes you think you won’t miss me?

Pain well expressed and the final question correctly asked.

I am so sorry you trusted someone and they let you down. It's awful to have bonded with someone, to find it must not have meant anything or it wasn't real. Especially, when all along, you thought it was. I know you don't know me from Adam (remember telling me that?) but forever is something I value and eternity is the length of time I will stand behind someone. I hope you know that you have touched the hearts of many, and in this short time of knowing you, I found that out quickly. So, dry your sweet eyes and know that without you in anothers life is certainly a loss of their own...I'm just sorry you had to hurt also. You are very special and don't forget that.

You have expressed some very powerful emotions here.  One always has to wonder about those who think only of themselves leaving a trail of crushed souls in their wake.  They are not very nice people.  I also have to wonder if they have any real feelings whatsoever.  I doubt it.  One day, though, the tables will turn and when they have the broken heart hopefully they will see the error of their ways.  Unfortunately it is usually too late by then.  great write here with a wonderful message.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Thank you all for reading this I appreciate it; it is just a poem, a poem that so many can relate to if someone you trusted in ever let you down or lied to you.  Friendship is a forever thing (well at least in my books!)  Thank you again.

Very nice, and I love the thought that even when someone hurts us soo badly, that there will be a time that they will miss us! I sure hope so anyway.

well-espressed, wonderfully well-expressed

there is only One one may trust to do what is best, always, for each of us...no not what WE want, but what is best

I think, I believe, He asks us to keep Him in every relationship that what is received from it no matter its outcome is what is best for each member of it

we, being human, do not live/do/speak perfectly for others nor for ourselves, isn't it that we are to give Him control of the BIG picture?  oh, what a tough, terribly tough thing to do, (she says with fresh sorrow and fear in her memory)

again, Sharon, well-written!

Catalina Moon: I bet if you asked anyone who ever did an unkind deed, eventually they would say they regretted it, you think?  I hope so.

James Michael: Thank you sir.

Balladeer: You sweetheart, you are a sucker for a pretty face you said so, *smiles*, and I would miss you too, even if you are the "hardest grader" in the world of poetry, I still love ya big bunches!

Virginia: I am so pleased you got all that out of this poem, and now YOU have given me words to ponder, thank you.

Doreen: Not going anywhere, I love you all here ( just a poem, just a poem to blow off something, not sure what   )

I do know the feelings you describe so eloquently here. The wall is very familiar to me. Someone would have to be heartless to NOT miss you.

Mysteria~
You already know my feelings on the loyalty of friendship ...

One thing I've always known ...
I don't let one betrayal deprive me of all the friends
I might make tomorrow.

Keep your heart open and reach out to another who might be reeling from the betrayal of friendship.

We can't measure future friends by bad experiences yardstick ...
or we are the ones who will come up short.

Love n' hugs and all that jazz !

Marge: You are certainly just a wealth of wisdom did anyone ever tell you that, and by the way I could not agree more, thank you for your comments.

Kit: I do thank you for taking the time to read, actually I am not going anywhere "just a poem".
