There is a night wind that echos through my soul,
Sitting here amongst the voice of friends,
Poets alike gaining on my heart.
When dreams persist and the eyes won't have sleep,
There is a solace to be sought within words.
The mind takes on a measure of idle insanity,
But the effects are equal to some swirling,
Finger painted board of colored emotions.
There is a need that has taken over my hands,
And the drive to create consumes,
Like the fire that claims closely, the sun.
A blaze of thoughts steer their way through my heart,
Burning their way on to whatever surface is submissive,
To the infection of passion.

Great poem and this line, well, we're all familiar with the effect......

Powerful writing brimming with sadness and fire, especially loved the last three lines.

"Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life". Terry Pratchett

Well said here, Temptress.  Words do indeed bring much solace.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Loved the write. My utmost compliments. Truly touching.

Wow, do I like the style with which you wrote this...not to mention what you're saying, too...great write, Temptress!
