The Call

If I listen,
when days turn long,
and the hills become brittle;
when tempers soar with Fahrenheit,
I hear the call.

I hear the call
when I’ve been gone too long,
or the enormity of drudgery
spreads into a chasm,
then it comes -
in gentle whispers.

In gentle whispers,
an early morning fog,
healing mists to quench
all that has withered within;
to beat new life into hope,
borne on welcoming sighs.

Borne on welcoming sighs,
sweet earth song
harbors me
safely into a sea shanty,
a subaqueous song.

A subaqueous song,
ageless, wordless,
as familiar
as a nursery rhyme,
I know the tune
but have lost the words
over time.

Over time,
I wish a daily dream,
to return to stay
never again stray
for this,
I hear the call.

Hi Cori,
You know there's nothing like getting out in the woods. Away from everything just you and nature. It can be so quiet you almost feel a presence

Corinne...I enjoyed the way you presented this...and the thought behind it.  I hear it too.

The tune of the desert wind, one sound in the day, another at night, always calling, always there... ahh, Cor, my dear friend, the tune is all that is necessary, not the words. But your words always fill me with tender thoughts and these are of no exception...gentle smile

I hear that call all the time...

mostly when I dream... the words are very clear to me.

...Oh sail with me to County Cork,
on a maiden voyage of gentle seas
and run thru the mire and the mists,
on a lover's mystical journey.

Park, you are amazing, did you know that! Brought a smile to my lips, you did.

Severn - thank you, yeah, not enough time to write and post these days, but trying to keep my hand in.
