                           it forms.
cornering one eyelid like a strangler,
sneaking up in the dark alleyways of remembrance…
                strike!
       bubbling,
crusting the edges of peace with hazy shades of misery
it catches the sunlight of optimism
      – focuses it into a pale
mist of heartache clamming up
     …to bypass pain.
oceans, see, are careless when wandering.
                    salt and brine
waters borne from the eerie depths
                of repentance
       struggle to overwhelm contentment
in the form of dream and desire

amazing,
how one memory can cause such a rush
of tears…
          anguish…
                   longing…
amazing,
how one night can play the previous
like an implement of hesitation on the path to redemption.
miraculous that I survive one dream to the next,
when each threatens to emaciate my humour,
to hasten the demise of a colourful future
which was once imprinted with promise.

tears purge,
    cascading down wrinkles of experience
like a river chasing away winter,
they heal the emptiness of separation…
just not enough to wash away the
     hope
that someday,
the past will find a way to renew itself.
that someday,
       then, will once again become
                              now.

Thank you all for your kindness on this poor example of poetry. Your kindness is overwhelming.

I forgot to put in the poem above, but "Je le Rêve, je Pleure" Translates to "I Dream, I cry."

JamesMichael: "pleasure becomes the blessing of the moment not of the memory" - I LOVE that, it's beautiful, and one can always hope, though I doubt he and I will ever reach reconciliation.

Thank you!

I know this feeling from experience..............excellent writing!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie
