A Maiden’s Heart

search now thy heart
once again
young maiden

seek thee that love
which was spoken to
you in hushed,
sweet voice,

the timber of which
still courses
through thy soul

oh, hast thou once
thought of him,
then,
that thy eyes have not
opened to seek
the light

nay, not once, but
every morn,
and in his absence
the tears well prompt and
inevitable, then
every eve…

in hopes that the morn
should bring blue

and a voice honeyed of
tone

and hands that will then
stay, come eve….

and believe, oh yes
accept as true
this love he has of you,

and that he shall come, again…

write with grace, all others lose face;
"Jo was very tall, thin, ... and reminded one of a colt..." LMA

Love, once found, is always remembered and held onto, isn't it?   I know of this love.

Not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
