Boys Will Be Boys

Mommy, can we go play ball?
Or can I go catch some bugs?
Mommy, can we have a picnic,
Right here, inside on the new rug?

'I won't spill, I promise!'
He says, being most sincere,
As his Kool-aide goes tumbling over,
And his Mom yells 'Get out of here!'

He comes in from a day of playing,
With dirt all over his face.
Skinned up knees, and holes in his jeans,
And hair very much out of place.

'Look at you!' His mom cries,
Right into the tub he goes.
Scrub him up and get him clean,
And then into the washer goes his clothes.

'Now you be good, and don't you splash!'
Mommy cried as she walked out the door,
And when she came back, just as she'd thought,
There was water all over the floor!

Mommy bundles him up in his jammies,
And snuggles him into his bed.
Leaning down, she tells him she loves him,
And kisses his clean forehead.

As he drifts off to sleep, she watches him,
And is sorry for yelling, from the start.
For even though he makes her angry,
She loves him with all of her heart.

So, even though he is constantly dirty,
And is always making the biggest mess,
In her heart, this Mother truly knows,
That with this little boy, she's so blessed.

So when he’s rough and tumble,
And when he brings her great joy,
She gets down on her knees and prays,
For her sweet, little, dirty-faced boy!

This was done for Saunni's little boy:

Logan: being a Mom I love to hear that, and having a dirty-faced little boy for a lot of years I sure know that Mom's deserve all the credit they get!

Vas: Glad you enjoyed it!

Saunni: This was for your little sweetie, sweetie, glad you both enjoyed it!  It was fun doing it for him.

I have two daughters, but the youngest one I've never seen without a hole in her somewhere. Even now she is 26. She's captain of the Dutch National Softballteam. In almost every country they've played she has seen the hospital from the inside.

So I know what you're talking about, even with only daughters.

Ah shucks you guys and gals: I am so glad you got a kick out of this one.  I did it for Saunni and her little boy but with memories of my own dirty-faced, sneaky, little mud-loving boy, who made more bathtub rings than he had freckles at that time!  And, I loved every darn minute of it!  However, Mothers do go unrecognized all to often, as they have the hardest job on this earth, ask them to tell you sometime what they do all day, trust me!  Thanks again!

I was always partial to little boys; however, as an older girl, I resent the fact they could water at a moment's notice, and girls really couldn't. Humorous look at innocence.

I always wanted a little boy...but was blessed rather with two girls...however,the youngest might as well have been a boy, there is no mischief she can't match.  This was precious, Sharon...I loved it!  You've started my morning out with SMILES!

How can I tell you this IS my son?! He makes me nuts with the dirt he finds and the bugs he tortures and the lizzards he tries to sneak in...and the spills...ugh...then when I think I'm gonna go completely nuts, he takes the garbage out, and brings me in wild flowers( mostly weeds) and says he loves me.....I just come undone....if you look closely on his little finger...you'll find me...... I have to save this....
