Reaching

in thirteen count he wrote “descending”, I in reaching
never downward, wanting to emulate in reaching
for I go across, or up, but always, I’m reaching
for one thing, happiness, in this quest, I am reaching
for life and living, in continually reaching
for pursuits well beyond my grasp, but still, in reaching
I feel the beat of wing, the well of Hope, for reaching
allows the stretch of mental limbs, for in this reaching
I am self-teaching to never quit in my reaching
and with five lines to go, my finish line is reaching
out before me, I, gasping, strides marking this reaching
of soul’s goal, wonder if I shall expire, reaching
out for this destiny I have prescribed in my reaching
for this last line, hoping now to find you come reaching.

Yes, Sunshine, I will reach with you, as I am always reaching after learning that as I grew old, I was very ignorant indeed, so reach I do, and hope to learn just a bit of the world...gentle smile, nice thoughts, nice pondering. enjoyed very much
