mwhaaaaa haaaaaa haaaaaa
Virginia Salter

fiddle, diddle, man in the middle
watching and waiting for noon
grabbed a fork and then a knife
he slipped through the day with a spoon

rhubarb sauce and lemon pie
the tartness that they play
singes the tongue with acidity
and stifles the light of the day

how so, you say, how could that be
how might something eaten bring the dark
well linger awhile in the salty pool
and be eaten by a shark

chomp and squirm, wriggle and twist
scream to your heart’s content
the grossness of the hour you see
needs no condiment

is this morose, is this a pall
or is it just apalling?
I could end this poem in a moment now,
but I guess that I’m just stalling

for in my odd and giggly way
I find this entertaining
I don’t know why this has come to me
but I hear no one complaining

I read the lines
and said them loud
I read them one
more time

But time
is at
a premium

Though
you waste it
so
'Devine'

I love humor!  And you write it very well.

Not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

"The time has come," the Walrus said
"to speak of many things,
of shoes and ships and sealing wax
and cabbages and kings
and whether the sea is boiling hot
and whether pigs have wings."
"But wait awhile," the oysters cried
"before we have our chat,
most of us are out of breath
and all of us are fat."
"No hurry," said the Carpenter
they thanked him much for that.

"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"is what we chiefly need,
some pepper and vinager too
would be very good indeed
and then oysters dear
we can begin our feed!"
"But not on us," the oysters cried
feeling a little blue,
"after such kindness
that would be a dismal thing to do!"
The Carpenter said nothing but,
"do you admire the view?"

They are so good when you use pepper and vinager.!  (can't remember the author)
