Listening to every heart

Come RiverFest With Me

thunderous black gray concrete skies
threatened week’s end but no one cries
for festival will come, for come what may
even mud can become decorative clay

all the week the rains were damping
but set ups continued
neon blaze orange lines
on green grass stayed sprayed, denoting “tents here
and here and here”, plans never-ending
like a chant of thunder
festival is coming, festival coming, FESTIVAL

is here….

~*~

spirited sprites like magical gnomes
crafted, Disney-like, trees transformed by
colored gauze and suddenly we
ARE in Oz {mommy, look!}
follow the blue/green/red/gold/yellow
brick roads that lead to treasures
of heart, food ala-carte
eyefuls of artist’s lives in art
crafts to cart, home, home
but no one leaves until they have laughed
and giggled,
talked, and jiggled their way through the
day, dancing with the beat of the greet
sounds swinging from cottonwood to elm
butteryflies reggaeing
shimmy shimmy sister

find the shade
watch the parade,
humanity’s rainbows are passing by…
people, short tall thick small thin and
kidlets as colorful as the wherewithal they have
dressed the park up and down, nothing is left
to the imagination except the thought
what will next year bring?

planners looking listening planning
next year, knowing the tents will come

as will I….

a poetry wall! heaven took a slice
of rolling scapery, an S, set on edge the river’s
run through the park,
magnetic words
a give and take, line to line of thoughts
by children of all ages

I thought… “more!”

~*~

people watching, it takes a village to
give life to festival,
oh live we do….meet, greet, talk to strangers
ranging and roaming
cottonwood snowing feel the breeze! summer
sunning on shoulders and noses, white legs
pinking, freckles popping, fill the
bellies growling with yet more food
and with good eye spy a small
ring to fit the finger and validate myself…
I have steak taste
in style….

~*~

music filling thousands with snap and
yet, no crowd, enough room for everyone,
come along, go away, come back, come back
memories filling sun satiated windblown
bodies meld and swell and move
like the river itself, slow and eversure
lazy and twainish in delight of the day
feel the cool….

~*~

ah yes, home again home again home…
peel off the clothes careful watch the burn
and where’s the aloe ohhhhhh that is so
much better and now zebraed for
summer, tomorrow to dress with cover
for the taking of the last
sausage and blooming onion and
wisps of sounds, smells and eyefuls of
color….

until next year….

You have managed to transform, numerous visual, "Mind Photos"`into this piece. That is of course one of the most important methods to reach the reader. Your`intermigling of sounds. and sights is well done. Well done Indeed.

You take the reader vividly with you into the anticipations and sensations of these moments.
Wonderful writing.

Marge, go pack, come along....it's better shared in person....

Hope, mind photos are indeed what I had hoped to bring all here...thank you so much for seeing this with me, it WAS a delightful day...wasn't it?

Virginia, I left your cotton-candy by the kettlecorn stand, your mint-tea is there as well....you wouldn't hurry, and I couldn't wait to see what was around
                          t
                          h
e corner...., now hurry, we only have one more day....

Martie, I am beige....but LIFE is colorful!

Poeminister....you have just told me that our Fesitival CAN be shared through word, then, and guess what? There will probably be more....thank you so much for reading!
