Pioneer Spirit ( sonnet )

Obsessive in desire to forge a trail,
To view a fresh horizon for himself,
Then bear the hardships knowing he may fail,
But not for fames indulgence or for wealth.

He climbed the mountains just because they're there,
Then spanned a dusty plain to find its end,
To track a rivers course without a care,
A fundamental right he would defend.

For such as he no tilling of the soil,
No frontier town could hold him in its heart,
His solitary life of sweat and toil,
I wonder if he knew he made his mark ?

A heritage profound in times to come,
The nations call e pluribus unum.

Olias, lovely sonnet.

One spell..fundamental.

your rhyme is perfect!

and the sun drips honey."

Dusting off...needs revisiting by those who adore reading sonnets....

I keep thinking that one day, I will create one....
