That Perfect Wave

All his life he searched for that perfect wave.
The perfect wave is a surfer's dream.
A recurring dream that haunted his soul.
Always in his mind.  Always in his heart.
There it was rising,
High beyond the shimmer,
A giant bouncing off the water.

He felt cold terror, excitement,
As it started to swell beneath his body.
The fear reached out calling him to his destiny.
At that moment he felt its presence.
This was what he had waited for,
A feeling of intense joy and happiness.
Complete peace with himself, and his surroundings.
It now owned him, consumed him.

His board and body became one.
Feeling its wrath and brutal swell,
Bravely he stood entranced.
Believing finally, his chance had come,
To make him whole.  To make him complete.
But this perfect wave was not his to keep.
The wave belonged to another.

A wave that yearned for its master.
It scared him.  Terror ran through him.
Was he to ride or was he to bail?
To bail was the noble thing his conscience dictated.
What better gift than a sacrifice of love.
Not for himself. Not for his ego.

As he turned in towards the swell.
He looked back, the curl that fell behind.
He wanted to drown with in.
Things that could be. Things that could have been.
For a split second in time,
One brief second he kissed that wave,
Felt its salty water upon his parched lips.
He was in intoxicated, captured by its grace.

Now he still searches for that perfect wave.
A wave that will make his spirit soar.
A wave he dreams will last for eternity.
His dream, only the brave dare to dream,
To find that perfect wave.

An awesome ride, and the music to fit. How could one not wish to be on the beach. Hugs.

This brought back so many memories of wishing I lived near ocean!

I'd like to surf again, but perhaps not in CA. The music brought back memories. Catchin' the wave. Bye...

I have always wondered at the mind of a surfer.   Now I know.      Wonderful!

Not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

BRAVO!!! What a marvelous way to hang ten in life! (smiles) To keep balance on the surfboard of courage, and hang on for dear life on the huli graci of life! (smiles) How I ever dream too of drowning inside the eye of my loves hurricane, and come out of it with some love to hold onto eternally! (smiles) I guess until then I will keep on surfing the U.S.A! BRAVO!!! Marvelous voice, I love it! You have such a beautiful heart, dear friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Thank you all for coming on the ride, and yes, Mistletoe Angel (you win), that is exactly what I was writing about, not a surfer at all but us, every single day we have a challenge to face, and the courage to ride the way, or bale!  Thanks again everyone, that was fun!
