As I waited in the car I saw your son
leave the store, a silk rose in his hand.
And, could you, prideful, selfish man
not make a gesture just as grand?

A vivid red silk rose was given to a girl.
You came to the car with a gruesome smile.
"Here!" you barked. "Take this flower...
it's just about your style!"

You laid upon my palm, a rose of silk
as black as the depths of an endless sea.
Our quarrels and our spats amused everyone,
everyone, that is, but me.

I laughed and held the rose up -
the children and I were giddy with relief,
this would not be a day black as the rose,
filled with anger and shouting and grief.

The dark black days did come along.
Days when I was filled with dread and fear.
Somewhere there is a black silk rose, I know,
kept as a cherished treasure and held dear.

"A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water..." Eleanor Rooevelt

(sad sigh) Wow, an anguishing but powerful poem of how selfish some people are in this world. There is indeed a black rose in this world, but the number of red roses still outnumber those of black. I pray that in the future love can flourish all the gloomy fields and spread the growth of ruby red silken smiles. (sigh) My heart cries out to this little girl who had to endure that situation, and your sensitive heart that felt it. You have such a beautiful heart, dear friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
