The Object Of Her Love

I just checked in on my granddaughter,
Who lays peacefully sleeping in my bed,
Surrounded by her teddy bears,
Lots of down pillows circling her head.

She must have been dreaming,
Such a sweet smile was on her face.
And as I looked down upon her,
Snapping "kodak moments" never to erase.

She looked so very peaceful,
Content in her own little world.
That porcelain complexion,
Surrounding a face, auburn curled.

We had a very busy shopping day,
From store to store, here and there.
She was chattering non-stop away to me,
Voicing her every thought without a care.

She was singing twinkle, twinkle little star
At the top of her lungs as we rolled along.
And, what's more she didn't seem to give a darn,
If anyone was listening or even liked her song.

I laughed at her but sadly wondered,
Where the child in all of us had gone?
She didn't care what people thought,
And happily continued to just sing on.

Imagine not having a care in the world,
And simply enjoying a nice Summer day;
She made me stop and look at little things,
I would not normally notice along our way.

Now you see, I have a lot of energy,
So I think I 'tuckered' her out.
We were outside for most of the day,
Experiencing what life is all about.

That little angel now asleep in my bed,
Teaches me oh, so many important things;
It probably should be the other way around,
But she's the wind beneath my wings.

You see she brings out the inner child in me,
She makes me love, live, and laugh out loud.
She has taught not to care what people think,
So now I too, sing out loud in a crowd!

I look at her peacefully sleeping there,
The sweetest gift I could ever receive,
My own little angel, who taught me,
That only in yourself should you believe.

Now, if I want to sing and laugh out loud,
Well, that is perfectly quite alright.
I bent over and kissed her again,
Thankful to have her staying overnight.

Tomorrow I’ll be the main object of her love,
So I have to thank my daughter-in-law and son,
If it wasn't for the both of them,
I would never be having so much fun!

Your heart pours out this love for us to enjoy ... and we DO !

Gramma's moments are soooooooo special !
Love the 'real' of this piece, sweet lady.

Thank you for reading what the little munchkin brings out, and of course, that is the purest of love, for is there anything like the unconditional love of a child?

Oh, Sharon...as it finish reading this precious and warming tribute to your granddaughter, of course wiping streams of tears...(you know me!!!)....it leaves me with such an embracing feeling of peace.  Our children are such magnificent gifts from Heaven, and I do feel they teach us so much more than we teach them at times.  This was so very beautiful, give her a hug and a kiss from me!!!

Oh......I loved it
The childish simplicity and magic that surrounds it, is quite wonderful.

Children are angles on earth ......
Their smiles seem to give a heavenly light

Thank you for the read......

Martha: Tori says thanks for the huggie!

My Enchanted Melody: You know I never thought about it, but you are absolutely right!  She is my earth angel, she is my healer, my source of light, and love, and you are absolutely on with your comment.  I am now "inspired" by your words, thank you.

Children are simply our teachers. They expose every nerve in our bodies for better or worse. I love the singing out loud part so easily forgotten in our adulthood. Excellently written as usual.

Oh, what a write here. I read this and smiled the whole way because I knew what you were feeling. It's beyond words sometimes but you sure found them in this one. Alex was beside me when reading it and said, Oh, is that me? Look how cute I am! LOL He thought the pics were of him LOL. Anyway, a great poem here and the pics were so cute also. Thanks for this.

This made me weep. How truly touching. Why is growing old mandatory?

Martie: And it is I who can hardly wait for your wonderful words of love as I know they are simply going to be AWESOME!

Charisma: I know you love childen, so this is to let you know us Gramma's think you are pretty darn special.

Julian: And you know she makes every bone in this old body young again (until the next day that is!)

Saunni: I am laughing at you and Alex, and doesn't one just look like her too?  Too funny, glad you had a time together over something I did, that in itself warms my heart.

Secret Whisper: Is growing old mandatory?  Opps, no one told me and I am having the time of my life!  Hope you will too!
