Pain

0 posted 2001-06-05 02:24 AM

Our attempts to shield
the other from pain in fear
and protective instinct
only to have each and every

defense fall away only
in its erecting to hurt
far deeper leaving scars
far worse than what we

tried only in vain to protect
the other opening first chasms
now worlds to seperate what always
was what always should have been

Ii have burned our home its heat
unbearable I melt in puddles of apathy
knowing my need to protect has cost me
everything every tomorrow I have ever lived for

Head hung wishing my neck were so I

watch the embers lights slowly fade to disappear
and in their waning glow, I see so clearly feel the

endless night already pitch in black
         unseeing, unfeeling blinded,
       knowing eternal dark was wrought
           by my very own hand
             my sins my words
         To haunt forever more

For there is no forgiveness it blazed to ashes upon our funeral pyre consumed with each of us and
all that we called home and hope
midst charred blackend ruins of hearts once loved
           I can see no tomorrows

Dark and somber.  I hope this is fiction or that you find inner peace, or both.

just as Interloper mentioned,  dark and somber and I do hope the same that it's all fiction. if not than I wish that you will find a way out this darkness, and that a ray of light will lighten your path.

This is very powerful writing.  It's left me pondering in sadness, people's lack of forgiveness and the cost.

I felt this way once
and was amazed to find
one small bloom of tender hope
amidst the ruins of
all I'd felt I lost
And realized that true love never dies
I hope it's that way for you.

Not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.

This one gave me chills.  It is never easy to admit that we have failed at something.  Especially when that thing was more important to us than anything else.  Intriguing write.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Oh the best laid plans
and worthy attempts
make mice of men
