The posse would find him the Forum Gang knew;
To split the terrain was the smart thing to do.
They scattered and each went their own separate ways,
With plans to regroup after searching for days.

DeVine took the desert for she knew the West;
And Kit scoured the Yukon where she'd be the best.
Then Nan said she'd happily check the East Coast,
Where it would be warm at the point Southernmost.

Nan's search took her through every oceanside state;
She asked all she met, but not one could relate.
New England on down to Floridian shore,
Some thought that perhaps they had seen him before.

The "Keeper of Hats" was the one she should ask;
He sees all and knows if they wear white or black.
He knows if they've tried to disguise their kind smile,
So Nan looked about for the Keeper awhile.

She knew when she found him, the hat-keeping man;
He stood by his shop and he beckoned to Nan.
He'd heard of her search for that cowboy, you see;
Though he hadn't seen him in parts southerly.

By now Nan was hungry and needed to munch.
She wondered if Sloppy Joe's might have some lunch.
This Deer man assured her he'd find her a snack,
Before her search turned to a northerly track.

The Keeper of Hats donned his own burger stack;
Said generously, "Lettuce share my Big Mac!"
An interesting place were those Florida Keys;
Nan pointed her camera and just said, "Say Cheese."

Now I can't get that jingle out of my head though, LOL ...

special sauce, lettuce, cheese,
pickles, onions, on a sesame seed ... Balladeer"

Love it (I'm hungry)!

Best wishes,

I fail to see the humor in this! Doesn't everyone have a burger hat?!?! GEEZ! If ladies can wear hats with every flower known to man on them, what's wrong with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles? Besides, this was just daywear. For formal occasions I wear my Spam hat

Nan, you and burgers have one thing in common....you're both dead meat!!!

Nan, this had me in stiches, and I hope you know I'm dying here. Everytime I laugh I start to cough, and then I die for the coughing. Mmmmm I actually love bigmacs you know, I don't get to eat them very often but when I do, Mmmmm, I love this hat,
Excellent write,
I'm still going to die, and I hope you all will send some beautiful poems about the loss of a (well, what am I? Ah I know a bubble)

Nan wonderful write, really enjoyed this.

and is Seymour turning to say that all us Irish talk rubbish all the time because I have a thing or two to say about that...

Delightful!!! How ever did I miss a poem by Nan for three full days?  I know...it's called scores running up and down the page.  Thankfully, though, I came up for air at just the right time and captured a moment with this loverly rhyme!

So happy you found the Deer man under his hat!
