The Shores of Alone

Let go, tis said the only way
let go, watch love just fade away.

Goodbye, the only option left
goodbye, he said, left me bereft.

And yet my heart will not submit
for long ago, it did commit.

Let go, I try to say goodbye
but when I do, I boldly lie.

achingly sad ...
succinct and sincere
letting go is the hardest lesson a heart has to learn.
well done poetess
take care

Sometimes letting go is easier said than done, and the people telling you to do it that way have never tried!  So, you have to decide what's best for you, I think.......
this was wonderful, and it's sadness is rooted in reality, making it even more tender, my dear friend.......

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

Ah yes, that old commitment . . .
I like the way you've done this . . . a melancholy song.

Well expressed...letting go can't happen all at once.

I see your face,
I taste you on my lips...

Letting go..saying goodbye. A lie I have told time and time again. Love the poem.

I can't control
my destiny
I trust my soul,
my only goal
is just to "be"

It's hard to let go of love
when we convince ourselves this is the one
and we don't want to let go of love thinking perhaps we will not find it again.
When we realize we cannot own or possess love we become more comfortable with love...James

That's the hard part, letting go! The mind wants relief but the heart won't give it!  Good poem!

You've said so much, so clearly, in so few lines Sandra. This was a powerful piece, and a perfect rhythm and flow that added to the impact of your words, really well done.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sandra,
Can I relate to this!  And yes, letting go is so hard, but sometimes it must be done, in order to learn how to hold on to something or someone new. Beautiful piece...

What sadness this one envokes, Sandra.  I've been there before and it never gets any easier.  You captured it perfectly.  Great write.

Been there.  Still there.  Will always be there, for I prefer the "Titanic concept":  "Never let go...".  Always forgive, but never forget, for how can you know where you're at if you have no reference point to where you've been?  Thank you for sharing.
