Behind your back......words are spoken
rumors are spread......hearts get broken

Quiet inuendo......lead to lies
exaggerated truths......and someone cries

Jealousy calls......wants your believing
twisted facts......sly deceiving

Assumed knowledge......complete fabracation
fools believe......with no verification

Gossip flies......on ignorance wings
trust is lost......and evil sings

Yet truth has strength......and will defy
even the best......well crafted lie

Circe, Truth will always be the defeat of lies. I love this one dear heart, truly you have a perfect gift.

(Yes love still at home sick, sans voice, so I can't shout at those awful docs. But other than a sore throat I'm fine truly.)

Amen!  It does sometimes take truth a good deal longer to win...case in point, we're all still here on this planet...but win it will in the end.

Powerful piece calling readers to seek the truth before spreading the word/words.

SEA, I really like this especially the last two line.... my high school had a latin statement under its emblem (that I can't remember the latin for) it stated that "Truth will win" or "Truth will be Victorious".... thanks for the reminder.

Parker

Now i'm heading off to adult I'm hearing about another truth in there.

You're so right there. Gossip is so easy believed and spread so quickly, while thruth sometimes is hard to believe, but will get through in the end. I know, I've been there.

Susan,

I never lie.  Though the truth has cost me a few friends and angered a few others, I refuse to allow myself to be known as either a gossip or a liar.  When all is said and done, TRUTH is always the victor.  Well done, my friend.  An EXCELLENT poem.

Very well done SEA. Wonderful sentiments.

of course you realise truth will not always emerge triumphant? many are the lies that have spread across the world over the years that are now accepted as truths.

There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar.
