Silent Twin

I watch you,
lying there,
tiny hands and feet moving;
reaching out in your sleep
as you dream
of life before life,
of breathless womb
and wordless safety.

In your dreams
do you see him?
He was the brother you knew
better than any other;
but yet, will never know
outside the quiet darkness
and calming waters
of my inland sea.

What secrets did he share
with you
as hearts formed together
and you floated
side by side?
What was he like,
this child of mine
that I only held alive
within me?

I watch you,
lying there,
restless in your sleep;
reaching to grasp what is no more
and I wonder
...do you grieve too?

Ruth~
This brought tears then...as it does now,
you weave the feelings into words and they
ache right off the page...I'm not sure whom
requested this to be reposted but I hope
that they find the healing touch that this
poem can release.  An exquiste write my
friend~

Ruth this is deeply touching and so heart felt........these lines just catch me right in between emotion and the struggle for common sense.....

"He was the brother you knew
better than any other;
but yet, will never know
outside the quiet darkness
and calming waters
of my inland sea."

Marvelous feeling to this!

How moving, Ruth. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose someone before you even really got to know them, but you've shown what it may be like.

Ruth, a beautifully written poem each line is filled with emotion. Great to see you back amongst us.

Oh Ruth, this is just so powerfully written,
it touched me very much so, and I am saving it in my library.  You see the world in such a marvelous and deep way, both the good and the bad, thank you for writing this~

Take care,
Melissa~
