spotted dogs cavort
dappled by slow, lazy trees
dust motes sprinkling
starlight on freshly-mowed lawn

green leaks from corners
filling nostrils with heady scent
lawnmower stands still
sprinkler-knights joust in sunlight

ribbons of rainbows
tie together park and street
old folks try to breathe
children buzz like manic flies

still the dogs cavort
oblivious to dark heat
clover climbs grass stalks
sidewalks scald unwary feet

old woman, bent, broken smiles again

Wonderfully visual. As if viewing a photo.

"The past my prison, confined in solitary voiceless penance."
