Weepy Wanda has two blue eyes
With which her features are graced.
Limpid they are, as summer skies,
And perfecty evenly spaced.

Out of these eyes will often flow
Rivers of salt laden tears.
Everything saddens Wanda so,
And it only gets worse with the years.

News of virulent viruses
Killing the pigeons of Spain
Will turn her lovely irises
Into corn flowers washed with rain.

One day Wanda happened to hear
Of the death of a neighborhood cat.
"Oh dear," Wanda said, "Oh dear,"
And she cried for a week after that.

Wanda's doctor could never find
Any problem. "Your tear ducts look fine,"
He'd say. "It's all in your mind;
He referred her to Dr. Devine,

The psychiatrist. Dr. Devine,
After their eighty-fifth session,
Had not uncovered a sign
That Wanda's weeping would lessen.

"Wanda," he said, I'm afraid
That we can do nothing more."
She thanked him and sweetly paid
And tearfully walked through the door.

Wanda weeps whenever she hears
Of anyone else's sorrow.
So Wanda is always in tears,
For there's always sorrow to borrow.

Genius, all I can say for this poem is that it is pure genius, you are a truly talented poet ... Only one question, what made you think of writing about the lady and her tears, and if she's based on a real woman, where is she now !?! Great read, i enjoyed every line, many thanks .

Thanks to all for your kind responses. To answer your question, Angelswings, Wanda is not one woman but a composite of many, and some men too. Some people have a very low threshold of compassion. They may be the true saints.
