Salt

We do not usually equate
Forest, grassland, or high desert
With physical intimacy.
But let the salt in sweat
Once reach the lips,
And the senses will immediately
Transport
To the vicinity of a seacoast.
Once there,
A couple walking on a lonely beach
Will animate, each the other,
Until the phrase,
"Naked in bare feet"
Suggests more than comfort.
The sweetness of a city park in spring
Lacks the distinct longing
So characteristic of the surf
Incessant. Pounding waves
Strive to convince,
But if they fail,
An irresistible temptation
To tongue the sea
Will manifest the conclusion
Of union.

Bob, you are so right...the sea, the ocean, the sand are all very romantic, lovely places for love.  You have expressed it so well with this excellent poem.

Excellent poem Bob. I have to agree, the good old sea is a romantic vehicle for two lovers, and even if it fails it always comes back in some form as a reminder.

They say [when there are they that would classify folk] there are two kinds of people...who either like "sweet"...or "salt". I'm the latter, so of course the title drew me in.

Of course, I stayed for the read.

Of course, this is again, a keeper...

I felt the imagery in this one for certain!  I'm thirsty
