The whirring sound of the lawnmower
Surrounds me on this day
On a lazy Sunday afternoon
As we are nearing the end of May

The smell of cut grass fills my nostrils
Such a freshness that smells so sweet
As I glance down to the pavement
And see ants as they gather around my feet

They move around in such a frenzy
Over some crumbs I dropped this morn
I glance across and spy six blackbirds
Pecking at the bread I left on the lawn

My roses stand naked in the garden
As Winter draws nearer this day
So cloudy but still is the weather
The sun struggling to push through its rays

The tranquil flow of water is behind me
Such a soothing sound is made
As the sun finally breaks through the clouds
And no longer am I sitting in the shade

Like a blanket the suns rays embrace me
As I sit here and admire the view
Nearby is my beautiful gardenia
It doesn't have many flowers - just two

With my mind now immersed in my garden
How I look on this place with such pride
But with so many chores to be done
I must leave here and go back inside

Didn't seem to be too lazy, lots of things going on. At first I was puzzled by the reference of the end of May and winter coming on. Then I saw where you are from and now I realize you have winter when we have summer. I do enjoy the smell of fresh cut grass.

I must remember in my mind to flip-flop the seasons...to be in the right frame of mind when writing, so my downunder friends can enjoy, "seasonally..."
