A Loving, Knew

I deed myself to you in love
a "once upon a time"
I need myself in love today
and fill my thoughts with rhyme.
I overflow my consciousness
with wants of long ago.
Then unmet expectations rise,
to dim my brightest glow.

I still hold onto bits of you,
the aura that surrounds.
Those special moments, promised words
that touched me, still confound.
At times I see that spark again,
in aging, wistful eyes.
Until, the truth does show it's face
and memory plays it's lies.

If onlys, seem to shatter peace
this heart in turmoil, twists.
Wringing out the last of tears
and hopefulness in mist.
What sometimes seems like olden times
is just a fade-in-thought.
When eyes set eyes upon the one
whose love had mine, once caught.

I seek within my own, this morn
the innerness I need.
Will fill my life with loving me,
be selfish in my deed.
Sighing, I shall take this day
and contemplate my view,
Remembering that once upon
a time, a loving, knew.

~Wynter

That's beautiful poetry Wynter. Memory certainly does play it's lies. I love the reflective nature of the write....keep up the good work!

Wynter,
you can reflect so poetically on any given morning and this is no exception.

I love the way you string musings together to create jewels.
