In the winds of Cherokee song

0 posted 2001-05-26 12:41 PM

Spirit Of Ash ... Heart Of Wind

Ashes of trial swirl ...
On the wings of eternal winds
Hearts of purity sing ...
As a chorus of freedom descends

Spirit of Ash ...
Heart of Wind ...
Freedom is Forever ...
A gift to defend

Wisdom of infinity soars ...
In the eye of sacred owl
Strength of truth speaks ...
     As spirits of Cherokee prowl

Spirit of Ash ...
Heart of Wind ...
Freedom is Forever ...
A gift to defend

Grace of harmony resides ...
In the lyrics of tranquil thought
Grace of tears flow ...
In peaceful visions I have sought

Spirit of Ash ...
Heart of Wind ...
Freedom is Forever ...
A gift to defend

Spirit of Ash ...
Heart of Wind ...
Freedom of vision ...
As I now ascend

Mark Christopher

Mark you've always had the ability to write beauty, and this is indeed outstandingly lovely. PT and Margie have inspired you to write one of your best. Thank you for this one, they are two of the most deserving poets, and it's clear to see that their influence has added something special to your pen.

I know, I know... you were just trying to teach me patience by posting this when both my office and the libraries were closed and I'd have to wait 3 days to respond! LOL Well, I can't say I gained any patience during the wait... but I did enjoy many a read of this incredible poem! This flows flawlessly with vivid imagery... but it's the peacefulness that makes me want to print this out and keep a copy in my purse. *S*

Seeing your name was guarantee enough of a memorable read... but with such a title, I knew this one would be special... and is it ever!!! *S* The repeating verse lends a subtle power as well as a hauntingly lovely melody... Try as I might, I can't pick a favorite line or even a favorite verse... for every line is a gift to us, allowing us to share your quest.

"Strength of truth speaks...
As spirits of Cherokee prowl"
You don't just seek, you listen... and then you write and let us hear... and our hearts are forever touched.

Superb writing, dear friend... your beautiful spirit and loving heart shine... may your quest for understanding meet continued success and be rewarded with peace everlasting.

Excellent, excellent work, as usual, m'friend...seems the absence of a computer hasn't hindered your muse, THANK GOD...that wouldn't be good, now would it??  I love the relation of these lines in particular...Your beautiful write made me think of tangerine trees, paticularly those possessing ticks...don't know why, though...but truly, this is an incredible tribute to two wonderful poets here in our huge family and the Cherokee heritage.  Great to see your name 'round here,   ...

Thank you, Mark, for this extraordinary poem, which captures the essence of two of the finest poets. Ethome and Marge are so deserving of such a tribute for all their contributions not only to this forum, but to poetry itself
These words will ever stick in my mind, a title so enticing, and repeated so beautifully throughout
You, mark have been an inspiration to so many poets here at Passions. I write my verses under your star, which gleams in radiance and enthusiasm. Your exraordinary work, your charismatic charm, and your steadfast principles have won you many hearts and I wish I had your talents to reciprocate with a poem just as fitting on your behalf.
Well done, Dear poet
