I kicked a rock today
And cut my giant toe
I stopped to watch the flowers
But they didn’t even grow
I saw a friend I used to like
But she said she didn’t know
Anyone quite like me:
“A circus freak sideshow”

I told my mom and dad
I was good and they were glad
But then I spilled some soda
And quickly they were mad

What could I just do
Is there even such a thing?
That promised it would work out right
And end my losing string

I sit and often staring
The teacher thinks I’m daring
To get her heart a racing
If she asked I would be sharing

That the world is so unjust
And I’m filled with wanderlust
I think she popped a vessel
And I think she even cussed

I drew my Uncle Dave
With gun and hand grenade
Teacher kicked me out of school
And I got a failing grade

The assignment I only did
And I’m just a little kid
Take away my innocence
And slap the word “Forbid”

I kicked a rock today
And cut my giant toe
I stopped to watch the flowers
But they didn’t even grow
I saw a friend I used to like
And I hit her just for show
Is there anyone quite like me
And to whom my vengeance owe?

it's a true story, they give a kid an assignment to draw a relative so the child draws an uncle who is a soldier and they expel the kid!!!

eventhough this is someone elses story, it seems as though you lived it yourself. uhh, i guess teachers are cool, but i think kids are cooler.  anyways, i like the whole reality thing thats going on in this one.

now someone riddle me this....
why do teachers think they have a monopoly on reality?
why do people think that because something thus far only exists in your imagination, it's "not real" ? they said it about manned space flight, as i recall, and ~claps hand to cheek and opens mouth~ we do THAT every day.....
walt, whoever the kid in question is, let 'em know this: reality is a function of the observer to a large degree, and teachers don't hold a monopoly on it, especially if they don't even bother to ask what your ideas mean....

They expel a kid for DRAWING weapons...yet...they are willing to make up all kinds of excuses for these kids who bring guns to school...wheres the sense? Makes you just want to give up...

Since the assignment can be proven with facts, the teacher and the school are wrong.
Good story, good flowing rhythm.

Son told by his teacher to write 5 things he hated. Received phone call because one of the things on the list was teacher's name. Teacher upset because we refused to get mad at son, teacher should of said no names. Her problem not his.

Powerful write Walt!  Great message a topic needed to be written about.

                                "The assignment I only did
And I’m just a little kid
                                   Take away my innocence
                                  And slap the word “Forbid”

More time needs to be spent!
