Love is not a living thing
It is not born of moonlit night
It does not grow in sun’s loving light
Not of hope springing eternal;
Nor beauty personified,
Or time immortal

Love is not a tangible thing
Not to be felt as the summer wind’s kiss
Cannot be granted with a hopeful wish
It is not the sun, the moon, the sky;
It is not a rose you hold like this,
Or the light in your eyes

Love is not a mortal thing
And with mortal words described
Not of hope springing eternal;
Nor beauty personified,
Love is not a living thing,
For living things have to die

I have always thought this was one of your understated best ...
you took the imagery and the timeless classic beauty of poetic romantic phrases
tied them up in a bow of cadence and rhyme perfection..
and those last two summation lines were poetic icing on the cake.
Beautiful inspire PK

We wish ourselves beautiful,
we cry in the night.
Its not the love you fear ...
its the fall from the height.

While reading I wanted to tell you I disagreed, but then came the last line wich said it all. Beautifull poem.

I know you are not around so much anymore, but we do miss your work, PK. And I too, wish to argue the point and still may...but the execution of your work is flawless as always. I do hope you find your way back home to us soon, my friend. Hope that all is well.
