I do not lie in hallowed ground
No wreaths upon my grave
No one visits to shed a tear
No one knows where I lay.

I went, a boy, to someone elses war
To fight against an enemy I did not know
For what I did not know
They just put a gun in my hand.

Oh I know all the words
Freedom, Liberty, Justice
And I understand the need to protect
But isnt there another way?

I fought for you
So you could be free
To live how you choose
The life of freedom

While I lay unmourned
In an unmarked grave
Forgotten
Alone

REMEMBER ME

Powerful.  Excellent writing, Paula.  You've captured the incredible sadness and loss of war.

How true! I wonder how many boys were sent that had no one to even miss them when they lay down their life.
It's good to bring it to our attention so that we can remember the lost boys.

Paula sweet sister mine, always you reach in and touch me where my soul hears truth. You have written another wonderful piece love.
I love it, and I adore you too. I wonder where I would be without my sweet Paula to guide me, thank goodness that I don't need to wonder.
Take care poetess supreme
Love and warm stuff as always

Really, really nice work.
True too, they all should be remembered.

In Holland we still do on the 4th of May.

Wonderful job about a sad fact of history.
It is sad when our fallen heros are not remembered.

We send children off to fight and wonder when they come home hard and lost...we turn our backs and spit on them for doing what we expected them to do...kill people...they deserve all we can do to honour them...fallen heroes every one

Paula I was watching a show on tv last night that followed Marine recruits through boot camp which I believe was 13 weeks of training...and when they finally met all the challenges they were given their Marine insignia and congratulated for becoming a Marine...and most of them were crying having faced and endured the challenge and winning the prize...all of them were young men.   And they were all being trained to go and kill our enemies whoever they may be...and they will be killed also...and many mothers and fathers and lovers will lose there loved ones...and they do love them and they will shed tears over them...let's be thankful that they can go if necessary but for now we are safe and thank God they are too...James

WOW, Paula, this is an exceptional write, from the point of view of a dead soldier, his identity unknown. Very effective and emotionally stirring
