touching inward

time to let it all
come forth, this touching
inward

too long the walls
have stood between the
feel
and the real

too often put aside
the deepest part
of this emotion’s flow

let it go…

let it go….

this, this is the moment, then
to let the memories
begin to mend

to let the sorrows pour
forth in rain

to quench the soils
where blood was lain

and although left in weakened state
leave open these, thy flooding gates
allow thy pain to surface in full
allow this inward touching pull

and in memory, touch the stone
and in touching inward
we shall go on

in memoriam

write with grace, all others lose face;
"Jo was very tall, thin, ... and reminded one of a colt..." LMA

Wonderful poem, you have a very good structure, it is different to many poems which is what makes it work . I enjoyed the subject content .
Thanks .

Looks like the raising of the flag over Mt. Suribachi ... always gives me chills ... my dad was there.

If by "touching the stone" you mean the Vietnam memorial, I haven't yet summoned the intestinal fortitude to "touch" my buddies' names.  One day ...

Well written and a big THANK YOU.

Lady In White,

We owe a great deal of gratitude to the veterans of this country.  Most did not come from well to do famililes, but were the poorest of the poor and uneducated.  For many, their only hope for a better future was to enlist.  So many never had a future. I loudly applaud each of them.  Thank you for this.

Well chosen words, Lady, for something that holds a catch in the voice, you speak strong and true.

I have met so many Americans now through the computer and a lot are Vietnam veterans.  They still choke up as they speak, and still can not "touch the stone", and every new story makes a deeper hole in my heart for all who fought, as the nightmares, it seems, never leave them.  It is a wonderful thing you do by honoring all those that fought for freedom!
