Great Grandpa

I’ve reached the stage of great grandpa
A distance that to some seems far
But time is such a funny thing
It seems to me I still smell spring.

As sands pass through the hourglass
It shows a difference in the mass.
But mind is such a funny thing
My youthful thoughts remain and cling.

To me I never think of old
More often thoughts remain quite bold.
There seems to me unending schemes
That ever sails romantic dreams.

And though I’ve slowed in heresy
I have not slowed in fantasy.
I wile away the last of hours
Like a lotus still in flower

And pay no heed to papacy
My reach is ever ecstasy.

Yes, you're right, we only are as old as we feel and some of us will never grow up.

You are great ... and you are grand
proof here ... with pen in hand
I cant think ... of a cooler grandpa
the things you can teach ... pass on the awe
Ive said it before ... I'll say it many a time
Never old, just better ... aging divine like a fine wine.

We wish ourselves beautiful,
we cry in the night.
Its not the love you fear ...
its the fall from the height.

I'm not great, just grand.
But I feel the same, I understand.

Titia,
You are so right, thank you.

Sunshine,
Thank you sweet. *L*

You are my butterfly, my firefly and tinker bell all rolled in one.
Without you this place would loose half its fun.
Believe me when I say your colors are extreme.
And every time you fly about you bring to me a dream. Winkiewinkie Stinky

What a delightful poem... I must agree with JM... without knowing anything whatsoever about your family life or paternity, we can vouch that you are great and you are grand! *S* Congrats, dear Seymour... and thank you for both the wisdom you share so beautifully and the heart that remains forever young no matter how many pages are turned on the calendar. *S*

Seymour~
Congratulations, GreatGrandpa ! !

Grandpa was an old, old codger
In younger days, an artful dodger
Time caught up with him one day
Made him GRAND in every way

Sprinkled kisses on his cheeky
Tamed his Randy with hide-n-seeky
Gave him a lap where babe could lay
Wrapped his heart in child-like play

Special memories in GreatGramps kiss
With lullabies sung in sweetest bliss
Others may have moments such as these
But none as GRAND as his GREAT squeeze

Of all the pleasures to be known
None as sweet - as a Great Grandpa of my own
