Killing Time, 5/24/01

Whisper soft, the falling rain,
Conveys a dreary sound.
And takes my thoughts to long ago
When you were still around.

The sighing of the autumn wind-
Is quite in tune with mine.
A lonely man, a lonely house...
I sit here, killing time.

Ah, what a waste, to kill the thing-
Which we all seem to lack.
That, once it’s gone, so precious seems
But nought can bring it back.

But I suppose the irony-
Is there for all to see...
It’s only fair that I kill time,
For time is killing me.

I think we are all guilty of killing time, I have murdered many a minute myself. really enjoyed the poem.

"across the unfair divide
where black will never meet white
so read my token lips
as though they never exist"

How true to our existience your sentiment is.

Also I must comment that the meter and words give me that "song" feel. Would make a good song...

Loved your poem very much.....

We kill time
without remorse.
We watch them dance.
We run the course.
We hold the candle,
We watch the flame
We never lose,
we leave the game.

an old one of mine...similar in many ways...

Until you are are near it, you will never see it, until you live it you will never know it...this is why we must not judge it.
