She can be a moody goddess
Not easily restrained
Her grace much the same way,
Not easily obtained
And her beauty, like formless water
Can never be contained

The raging waves and sometimes
Her mirror-like calm face
Speak volumes of the nature of
Her testament to patience and haste
And the way she drowns me deep within
Leaving nigh of a trace

By her whims I take my leave
Allowed to live or die
O, but to explore her fathom reaches
Where her dark secrets lie
I knew that I were to be held spellbound
From the first I heard a seagull cry

Though far from her restless shores
With no sail to catch a salty breeze,
Not even one mariner left to brave the storm
And no ship to carry me
Know I that the Earth could no longer hold,
My longing for the sea

I like this, it's a wonderful description of a lady that most of us know. . . the sea. . .

well done. . .

this is a very impressive piece of writing...
outstanding elemental and ethereal imagery...
and poetically perfect employ of metaphor.
Also excellent expression of the emotions..
the longing and angst is written with depth and intensity...
this one goes in my library for future reading pleasures
superb poetry Moregoth

The sea is only a few miles away from my house and I know exactly what you mean.

Superb!

This line especially captured my attention:

Know I that the Earth could no longer hold,
My longing for the sea
