Looking for the Wild

I was climbing the crest of the hill
looking for wildflowers,
the cool breeze at my back.
A perfect patch of wild iris
were caught in dappled light beneath my feet.
I zigzagged to avoid a crushing blow
to such tender,
when from the ground just steps away
three golden eagles exploded,
their chocolate wings blocking the sun.
Away, away, across the blue
I watched my heart,
as the lake lapped at the shore
in the same quiet minute of my awe.

Ah, she's back, and she comes in so quietly in the explosion of feathers....

A beautiful verse in English I can understand!

What a refreshing read...thank you, Martia.

Martie,

Just the right amount of imagery, my friend.    I can relate to this one, as I used to spend a lot of time hiking the forests and would often disturb a flock of birds and watch as they took off like a dark cloak being swept across the sky.  I enjoyed this much and am so happy to see you back.

With a nod to JM, I've never been successful at being succinct. *G* But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate what I can't do! LOL This is beautiful, Martie... thank you for the vacation from my office! *S*

Hi all...I wish I had had (can I say that?) a camera, for it was a wonderful moment for me.  I'm glad I could write it so that you could see a little of what I saw.  Thank you for all your lovely comments...I missed you!
