Lured by your promises of smoke and dust
I followed you gladly held by my lust
You were the one who filled me with fire
Who held me high and met my desire
You were the true love that I'd never known
I looked to you, for the promise you'd shown
You led, I followed… gladly to doom
Although the ending came much too soon
Our own destruction, led by our hand
All that we suffered by our own command
Our bodies entwined as we became one
Were met with resistance of things left undone
You hold your secrets; I hold mine too
Coming together is something I rue
Our past has caught up, as love turns to rust
Fuelled by my laughter, maimed by my lust.

Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life.  Patty Hansen.

Kethry I don't understand a lust for dust, but the poem is well crafted.

"maimed by lust"... geesh...

that, my friend, is quite descriptive...

but i say, what's wrong with lust and tears? don't steal that line, it's poem in the works... "lust and tears"... also a cd... you'll see... maybe... lol

great writing here missy

"maimed by lust"... hmmm... now THAT's a thought... and here i am always thinking that Lust offers the passion of Life we all seek...... lol...... gotta hand it to you...   ... you did a great job with this and after being maimed, maybe you'd like to have a hand or two? *grin

enjoyed this ... thanks for the read

Thanks everyone, for your responses. I'm not sure what I meant by this poem, it was a small emotional hemorrage that leaked onto the page and then to here.

doreen I'll try not to steal your words, though they are such good words. You haven't copywrited them yet have you *worried frown*
