Your Mark

You left a mark on me etched into my soul
Your mark stamped inside piercing a hole
The lessons you taught me I needed to know
Now having learnt them, your mark I show
It’s there in my eyes when I think I'm alone
Glowing when I'm there in fears lonely zone
The mark that I try to conceal even from me
A mark of pain not of love or of pure beauty

You left your mark on me engraved inside me
Your mark is too clear for others not too see
The things you showed me explained it all
How too easily into trickery and belief I fall
I see that my heart misunderstood your game
Not understanding it wasn’t playing the same
Your mark has changed me in a definite way
It’s your mark that made me to caution sway

You left your mark on me and I offer thanks
That I won’t anymore join the foolish ranks
I can see clearly how your mark changed me
That I’ve lost all my innocence and naivete
I'm more cautious than I was before all this
I don’t believe in magic or in a Prince’s kiss
Your mark has made my smile falter and fail
But I’ll rise again soon then hope will prevail

Marsha

Take back the hope you gave,- I claim
Only a memory of the same

You know I know...its not a mark to be worn with shame...but with pride... that you were able to love and give...even if he was too much a coward and a jerk to to deserve what you gave to him...you wear it well sis of my heart

Going on, with head held high
No more to mourn and moan and sigh
Or to keep silent a heartfelt cry:
"It was your loss."

Great poem, Marsha... very well written! (And if you have any left over strength, send it my way??? *G*)

‘Deer dear heart, I'm fixing my gaze on the future love, and thank you always love. You always know how to focus my mind on the race ahead and to stop me from looking behind.  Do I need to tell you how much I appreciate you love? Well, I hope not but if I haven’t made myself clear thank you love.
