Do You Miss Me?

by Michael

Do you miss me?
When you breathe
the freshness of Spring
and feel
the breeze rustling leaves,
the dew,
the faint but fragrant newness
of that sweet moisture,
do you ever think of me?

When you walk into the falling day
and see first sparkling lights appear,
do you remember
that poetically,
I am the holder of the night
and I rein-in the stars?

As oceans pound relentlessly
upon the seashores,
in hopes of diminishing
both land and man,
do you know who I am?

If you could hear my voice,
you’d know I am the truth.
No lie can ever live in me.

In your heart,
you’ve always known that.

I burn candles.
I’ve never told you that.
Each night I hope you’ll that glow,
remember the light of me
and return.
I know it’s foolishness,
even romantic stupidity,
but I don’t care.

So many candles have drowned
in a puddle of wax
since the day you left.

Tonight I’ll light just one more.

Well done.  Just one more?  I think not

No such thing as stupidity in romance my friend.
Put that candle in the window... perhaps she will see it and find her way home.

nothing at all foolish about lighting candles, I sometimes have 25 going at the same time....for different reasons...

Interloper,
This poem is about my first love when I was eighteen years old.  We never forget the first, do we?  Thank you.

sea_of_okc,
Unfortunately, she never saw the candle, but such is life, right?  Time moves on...so many years ago that was.  Thank you

JLR,
Thanks for the reply.   I was in a nostalgic mood today.

Kathleen,
25 candles?  Wow!  :-)  I guess that poetically speaking, each of us have far more candles burning than we'd sometimes like to admit.  Thank you, Kathleen.

in silence
I have missed
all of this
and more
in heart wrung hope
this bliss
to find upon
your shore
in truth
I've less
and certainly
not more
you have asked
if I have missed
indeed, all, yes,
especially
your kiss...

could not help but to add a bit to this...in response...I enjoyed it so much...

well done, sir...

I am speechless to this....no words I could say would ever do this poem justice....stunning...

So beautifully written! What woman wouldn't want the love that burns so true in your heart?  I hope she realizes what she has before it's to late.

Elizabeth Anne,
Thank you.  I'm glad you liked this piece.

jwesley,
Thank you for coming by and reading.  I found this one on my word processor.  I'd forgotten that I'd even written it.

Lady In White,
I like what you added.  In fact, I like it a lot.    Thank you

Lauren,
Do you know why I like seeing your replies on my poems?  Because you help remind me that I'm a writer and my words sometimes touch people in special ways, as does any writer.  Thank you, my friend.

rosepetals,
Thank you, but this poem was written about a girl of many years ago and she never returned.  Such is love.

Dee

I have not been coming in here for very long but was aware of Michael & have visited his wealth of fine writing along with some of the work of other past poets.  Curiosity therefore drew me in when I saw the posts with his name on it. It was a good choice to send these 2 back to the top and are a fine example of his creativity.

Finally, can I just point out that line a lot of us have at the bottom of our posts, saying that we will be notified, I believe Augustes knows these are back....

Thanks for reposting & giving us newbies the opportunity to enjoy these nuggets

Best regards

John
