In Taking Care

simple request by one
to come
softly
quietly,
acquiescence requested
to give of himself,
and in response
this reply,

should thee feel
through the thin
a winter's beat
that lies within
would thou warm
this heart of mine
with but word lain
in a single line...

and in truth
he was
caught
by surprise

fear lingered
behind his eyes
for he did
not know
how this heart
felt, just so

or that if he
should  feel
through the thin
a winter's beat
that there lays within

could he,
would he warm
this heart of one
with but word lain
in a single line...

now, alone, in this cool, dark, dawn

not forgetting
the fear that lingered
behind his eyes

Decaflame....My first thought was to say that I am ...... unaccustomed to such attention, and to deny a desire for it. But then the scene of Joy when first meeting Clive...and his brother....for tea, flashed through my mind. Do you know, "The Shadowlands"? Thank you for this moment of light and warmth. Bob  PS It would have taken me a week or more to craft a response such as yours. That you managed it in but a few hours is amazing. You have a gift.

And sitting in the wings, I am enjoying the gentle response so beautifully written, and your poetic souls interacting.  Very nicely done poem Decaflame.

I would have to say it is remarkable to compose this in such a short time!
congratulations!

I love the last line
The fear that lingered behind his eyes!

Single line is laid
a single word composes
and that word is FAITH

Live for love. Without love, you don't live.
