I chanced to be a wanderin
in the village square.
And there I saw a winsome man
then, poof, he wasn't there!

I stood beside the turnip stall
staring at my well worn clogs;
wence I looked up to see him,
strutting towards me midst the dogs.

I stared long and shamelessly,
for his face was a site to see;
but lowering my eyes just a bit
is what really startled me!

Me mother never told me
that men could be so big!
I almost threw down my basket
to dance a happy jig!

The rest of the tale I will leave
to the knave who now bears a limp.
Never offer whales to a lady
If all ye can deliver is shrimp!
