The mind empty lacks all sensation
Seeking now poetic inspiration
John Drury sits unopened here
Writers block, my biggest fear

Teachers say - write that you know of
Sadness, joy, hate or even love
But if there is a void of those
How can I write my poetry or prose?

I seek music to soothe this burning desire
“come on” Jose, ‘Light My Fire’!
Nothing then but keyboard and screen
Venting now, my poetic spleen.

I am all too familiar with this predicament. It really is exasperating, isn't it?! Good vent!

take care lovely lady!

There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar.

Well!  I guess we can't always have Baked Stuffed Lobster.  Although I find nothing wrong with peanut butter and jelly.  Roger

You do better "blocked" then most of us do "inspired" my friend. Nicely written.

I thought this was wonderful.  The title attracted my attention as I had my spleen removed when I was 8 and I was curious what the poem was about.  I'm glad I stopped and read it.  Thank you......Sue

I had writer's block for nearly ten years....actually, just didn't have the desire to write until sometime last year.  Now when I'm blocked, I read, read, read.  It seems to help.

Wow, Feliciano's "Light My Fire".  I loved that album so much I think I wore it out.  I should go buy it again.

Nice one, PdV.

LOL@at Sharon to Jamie...
*sigh* ...tis the curse of pen isnt it?
but the fact that you did write such a very cool poem when ya had "block" proves you are a gifted writer!!(repost or not)
And for anyone who hasnt read Sharons prose...
your missing something special!!
Go check her out in the prose forum.

tis never easy being a moth,
tis not easy being the flame.
what some never see is--
sometimes ... most times ...
they are one in the same.

Now yassee, PDV... if you were as lazy as me, you'd nap through writer's block and not worry about it (but then, that first line is my norm!) *G* Instead, you create even when you're mourning your lack of creativity. LOL. This is delightful! *S*

DeVine One,
Light another candle in the sky
And you will fly. Enjoyed your little block.
