Between a laugh and a tear...

A repost for my Daughter's 18th Birthday.

Father's Daughter

Born to this world, that winters day
A special gift, brought suns warming ray
The miracle of life, a joyful gift to all
A fathers proud moment, brings a smile to recall

Remember that cry, that first breath of air
Into this world you came, child without a care
Wrapped with care and thrust into fathers arms
That first moment, even then, undeniable charms

Years now past since that faithful day
Never been so happy that you came my way
The suns warm rays, you they still follow
You've grown and blossomed, seeking your tomorrow

Our views they differ, rarely we see eye to eye
Still I'll always be there, should you need to cry
But through heartaches and pain we share this love
A Father's Daughter, a truly special gift from above

"Friends are quiet angels who lift us to our
feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." ~unknown

Beautiful now like it was the first time
that I read this one...your heart shines in
it as does the beautiful angel that you call
your daughter.  A very special Happy
Birthday to her today...and to you as you
helped to raise this wonderful young woman~

Eagle One, you have written a beautiful birthday gift for your daughter.  Aren't they a joy to behold from birth to today?  Of course, at times, we parents would like to put them back!!  All in all, what would we do without them.  Hugs and kisses for your Kris and hugs for you, her dad.  ME

Janet ~ She is one special young lady, and I love her dearly! This poor humble poet thanks you!

Serenity ~ Thank you also, I cherish every day I have to spend with her.

StarrGazer ~ I thank you for stopping, I do appreciate your time.

Paula ~ Yes she is  , she shall always have my love.

g ~ I am very proud of her, that much I do know.

Butterfly ~ As you well know my friend, my heart merely reflects the light of my angels. J and yes, a wonderful young woman she has grown to be, though I'm not sure how much help I was in that..

………..now you and I both know which "gift" she would go for first   and you can trust me when I tell you he'd be home long before midnight if I was around…...lol.

g ~ LOL, now don't you go and encourage her like that!

Mother Earth ~ I think you have summed it all up rather well. For me the real gift is that I am now able to share this with her, all that matters is that she knows. Thank you, and btw, welcome home!

L W ~ Me thinks I am lucky to have her for a daughter.

Apologies to all for taking so long to respond. Our main east coast communications link had been severed and getting online has been rather difficult.  I thank you all for your wonderful comments, I'll pass on your wishes and the hugs. The party is tomorrow and of course it's been raining all day without sign of letting up, such is life! Take care one and all!
