Afloat on a bearing
You sigh in my ear
"When our journey is finished
Let us both disappear"

Time was an anchor
And need was our sail
Wind swirled as love does
And stormed down a gale

Your eyes filled with water
And busied the deck
I woke up beside you
Our ship was a wreck

Time sunk to seafloor
And need was aloft
Wind swirled as love does
Your fingers so soft

I lay down beside you
And rebuild our life
Our island is christened
“A Husband and Wife”

An island is found
From passion within
To chart out a course
A new life comes in

The anchor is eaten
By algae and rust
And soon time appears
As nothing but dust

Our island will stand
For its fire from below
That made us consumed us
So stronger to grow

A ship is a vessel
Synthetic to sail
But God gave us His Wind
Through Him we won’t fail

We have a new island
Let’s go in and play
I see you there swimming
Farther away

The current of our love
Should pull you to shore
But I can’t be certain
You won’t find the sea floor

By anchor I bind you
And I gather some trees
My ship will be stronger
Than any cool breeze

So we sail from this island
But never apart
The heat from our passion
Spits lava from heart

The creak of the timber
We’re soul mates together
In good times and bad times
The Wind and the weather

Our ship would not splinter
It’s winter it’s warm
As long as we live
We’ll weather the storm

Our island is flooded
Our ship must set sail
Wind swirls as love does
And storms down a gale

Life is a vessel
On land or set sail
So God gave us His Wind
To love and prevail

p.s. When I started writing this I had 102 temp but by the end I feel fine. Guess that's why its so long.

Glad you're feeling better waltie! And I should thank elisa for inspiring you once again as well...methinks she is YOUR anchor!   wonderful, and I thought that fevered tone was LOVE, baby!

this one flows quite nicely like that current of your love.  i think its perfect in length, anything less would be uncivilized territory.  great write that gives me serene thoughts.
