Morsels of Poetry

My muse, she teases me
With morsels of poetry
Feeding me crumbs
Piece by piece, bit by bit
Then vanishes, while
I still hunger for it
She’s fed me grand buffets
Line upon line
And even left me to starve
To choke on words all mine
At times she serves lobster,
At times potted meat
And I devour it all
Hey, a soul’s gotta eat!
She gives me such pleasure
And causes such pain
Sometimes I’m left to wonder
“Will my fingers ever eat again?”
She’s here in a moment
Gone in a flash
Sometimes my fingers feel
As if they have whiplash
This diet of poetry
This hunger for word
Shhh! What was that she said?
I’m not sure I heard
She’s been known to
Rouse me from deepest sleep
And feed me words my
Befuddled mind can’t keep
Scrounging around for
One little missed crumb
Oh, my muse…
She’s anything but dumb
She’s got me hooked,
So she teases me
With tasty little
Morsels of poetry

Those muses can be quite the teasers, that's for sure! Very nice poem!

this is when you get her when she's not looking and grab the bag away from her!!  But of course, you don't eat all the morsels at once. . .

Great poem!!!

to be with you...
I've tried to hide my passion,
but it's just no use...
piece by piece I lose it
when you walk in the room...

Nice to know those delightful little muses

Can't agree with you more on that one.

She sure as hell plays with me.

Great poem.
