Listening to every heart

0 posted 2001-05-12 05:19 PM

Almost Summer’s Prime

it’s a quiet
almost summer day

if
there were a word
such as lushly

that is the backyard
just now

a little more than
lush

a little more
than full

a little more like me

translucent leaves
beckoning thoughts to
rise

and still I am with
Listen to the Warm

remembering

Jean, Jean, roses are red

and his voice, husky
and warm

and how it touched
me,
here…

the raspy timbre
still comes to my ear,
with
nothing to go by
but memory

oh, my…

thirty some years
1969
where
did they scamper off

how is my heart
still young
knowing
it would turn
to hear again

Jean, Jean, you're young and alive
Come out of your half-dreamed dream
And run, if you will, to the top of the hill
Open your arms, bonnie Jean

so the tune
shall carry me
into daydreams
in this almost summer day

where warm envelops me
within
and without

and I think
it is all right
to look back, and remember,
and smile,
to look forward
to new days
to be made into
cherished moments,
those memories
that will grace
me,
as I accept me,
and come into my prime

knowing that I shall
still be me,
but perhaps a
better me, after all…

as maybe I’ve been
prime,
all along,
but just embracing it
now…

Sunshine, thanks for painting such a lovely picture of self discovery and setting to the background a song that I remember well...

*hugs*

I remember 1969....I liked this very much.

Karilea--Your heart stays young as you grow more wise...and there IS such a word as "lushly"
