man walked on the moon
the day she was born
I held her  high to show her
the sky's the limit.
She came early, anxious to do it all...
calisthenics
balet
Laps of the pool
Working for the government :
Espionage at eighteen.
Oh my fairy  princess
married in the castle to  her scottish lord
The  sky was the limit
and now
I  finger her picture ,newspapered , and weep.
Not because of her flaxen mane
Nor the cause she fights
seeking help for the lame .
Not for her daughter withered in her walking frame.
Nor  for  her baby twins tugging at her train
Of thought....
A limitless sky still.
I weep at the sight of her hands .......
Pictured there amongst the print clasping tight
her responsibilities  of beaming love..
Her hands ;  Her fingers  ;
a mother's unvarnished  nails .Holding aloft   as if to show
Limited only by the sky above.....

Wonderful, beautiful, lovely, etc.....
I love this and castle or clap-board, I am sure those babies are better than painted nails.  ME

Helen, you will most likely never know how I feel about this piece, but you've written my thoughts on how hands tell the whole picture....

I do not yet know why I have a "thing" about hands....

perhaps it is because of the holes....

thank you for this...
