once, on a 4th

your subtle parade
   shuffles past me --
   its breeze, refreshing
   thought and stirring dust
   invades my calm discomfort
   and drums up passion
   as no Sousa march
   would ever dare

and gone in an instance
   of blaring trumpets --
   the sound of love
   on musical winds
   my moment's enjoyment
   escapes with your leaving
   the diminishing din
   of your subtle parade

Mark,

This is wonderful.  Such great imagery here.  Thanks for sharing.
