~*~ Constant Reminder ~*~

I stand by the door, simply watching the air go by,
I look to the clouded sky, and as I watch alone,
Memories of old, once again encompass me.
Thoughts fill up inside of me keeping me warm.
I know that my guardian angel stands beside me,
Protecting me, protecting him.

It's at times like these that I wish
I could change the world,
I wish that I could turn back the clock,
That the past could be altered.
I sometimes pace, waiting for him to call.
The longer I wait; the longer the silence prevails.
Aching to speak to him just once more,
I can feel his presence in my soul,
But my eyes see nothing but darkness.

I think back to the times when I awoke in his arms.
The times when he pulled me close.
The tenderness in his kisses, how he loved me.
The warmth held in his eyes only for me to see,
And I think of the times when we'd love, laugh,
The times of trouble, and the tender tears we cried.
It is then that I realize he's gone.
I wonder how life can be so unfair.

Once we are so full of life,
Now part of me has been lost and gone with him.
I remember the last time I saw him,
As if it was only yesterday.
Night falls, and I turn my glance upward to the heavens,
Looking at the stars in the midnight sky,
I see them sparkling, like diamonds in a tiara.
A smile breaks out on my face,
As a single tear trickles down my cheek,
For one day, I know that we will be together again.

With that thought, I turn and walk inside,
Knowing that the greatest gift he gave me,
Will soon be born into this world,
And I'll cherish our child as a constant reminder,
That I received a special gift,
From a man I loved and who loved me.
And on the day of birth, a new star will shine,
For he will smile that bright smile of his, I so love.

For Tara, Leah, and
To the arrival of Miracle Annie, May 6, 2001
With Love,
In memory of Randy

Mysteria,

Though painfully sad, there's so much beauty in this poem and yes, even hope.  Thanks.

Auguste: You should see the baby looks just like him, so he does live on, and we laughed as Miracle even has a mole on her neck shaped like a star like her Daddy had, devine intervention?

Darabeth: Thank you and yes in that family there is more love to go around than you can possibly imagine.

Sea: Sorry you cried, but yes it is sad, but like Auguste says there is hope in it all too.

Balladeer: The truth hurts they say, thank you.

Marge: Thank you but isn't that what a heart is for?  Yours sure is!  And as for Miracle, it is unreal how she resembles her Daddy, and I thank you.

Joyce: Thank you.

I was reading the first few verses with biased eyes, wallowing in sadness... but unprepared for the poignancy and heartbreak of the last verse! You've written a beautiful tribute to a special family... may little Miracle always feel the love of her guardian angel!

Truely heartfelt, a guardian angel to watch and protect and through the grace of God, she may even have his smile.  Take care and hugs.

Martha ~ Hugs, and thank you.

Suther ~ Tara will be reading all these good wishes as I will print them out for her and when the time is right I will give them to her, so thank you.

Gemini ~ (I am gemini too!)I hope she looks like Randy too, but she does right now, and thanks for reading.

Charisma ~ Love and understanding is universal, and being in the Netherlands, I see it is no different there!

After reading this, I felt close to this family I've not had an opportunity to meet.
Sensitively written.
