Skinny Dipping

Beyond the margin of your letter,
You slant a bit, and shyly mention
In just that way you have of writing
Incidentally
About a more
Essential fact of life,
Skinny dipping, not years ago,
When all the world was smooth and tight,
But yesterday,
Amidst the night.
You can't imagine how I looked,
As just that quality of smile you like
Overtook the little crow's feet
Sneaking, as though along the fence
That keeps me from your residence.
To think, but for these taps
You never would have known.
Strange;
The innocence I mean.
All along
I've wondered how it is they paint;
The artists,
How they come to concentrate
With naked beauty at their feet.
Now I know.
And so I stare,
Not peeking forth between the lines,
But unabashed,
Self-conscious just enough
To wear a look, a smile,
That says I care.

I'm so terribly happy I stepped in to see this one, RMW.  I'd been here earlier and read another of yours, and now I'm tightening up my leeway time to get off to school.  But this reads like a love letter to your wife, full of subtleties and tenderness laced fully with deep, deep love.  What a wonderful read and I'm trying to be more glad for her than envious.

Virginia...so kind. Thank you.

Irish Rose....Do not wonder...just do it. Well, be careful picking your time and place. Central Park is not good.  You made me laugh.  Bob

Enjoyed this very much...made me think of that beer commercial...I think it was...I only saw it a few times...two guys were in an art class and instead of drawing or painting the nude woman they were staring...don't know if I could get past the staring...the admiring and the desiring...but of course I could for the sake of art...right...James
