This Art of Womanhood

by Michael

In beauty's rest,
she lies with pillows
'bout her form.

This perfect
breath of loveliness
in silken gown,
translucent.

His eyes,
drawn to curves
and sigh of breast,
the supple
blush that's
soft revealed.

And there in sleep
the hair about her
flows
with
hints of gold,
as moon
through window
lights upon each strand.

This art of womanhood,
this maiden fair,
that so enslaves
the hearts of men.

And dare he not
disturb this moment's peace,
as he bends forth
to place his lips,
to taste her young
and tender cheek.

He hears each breath
and longs to drown
in her embrace,
to drink her kiss,
to breathe her hair,
again
to gaze upon her face.

Michael, this is truly beautiful and could only be written by someone with a heart as beautiful to match.  Well done.  *s*

There is a song Michael called, "Cherish" and your poem has surpassed that in feelings of love.  To capture the essence of love for another is so difficult in words, and you (having the soul and heart that you have), did this to utter perfection.  Cherished are the words to describe a love.  This was absoutely beautiful.

Sven,
Does the "YES" mean that you liked it?     Seriously thanks so much for reading and enjoying this, my friend.

Songbird,
Thanks for coming by for a read and for liking this piece.

Joyce,
Thank you for the nice comments.  Hope your heart is in better shape now.  ;-)

Elizabeth Anne,
You say such nice things and are always so good to post on my poems, no matter what they are about.  Thanks, my friend.

Gentle Spirit,
Such a sweet thing to say.  I thank you, sincerely.  Thank you also for the visit.

walker,
Only one of many tributes, I hope.  Thanks

Martie,
And of course men also want to be cherished such as this.  Thanks.

Karilea,
I could not even hope to approach the works of Byron, but do so appreciate the compliment anyway.  Thank you.

Cerenity,
Thanks for the "awe" and for reading this piece.  You gave me a nice smile.  :-)

Dawn,
And thank you also for the smile you just gave me with your wonderful comments.

Mysteria,
And you are absolutely generous with your kindness.  :-)  Yes, I know the song.  It's one of my favorite oldies.  Thank you, my friend.
