The fire crackled in the dark tonight
The crickets churped in the grass
There were no sounds of bustling around
While I lay in your arms

The fire crackled in the dark tonight
I remember how it was
When our fingers were forever linked
And our hearts beat as one

Tonight we played the parts again
The holding, the kissing and the touching
Tonight we fall into this trap again
The one where we feel love

I wonder if it's real this time?
I wonder how you feel this time?
Will you run or will you stay this time?
Am I going to feel pain again this time?

The fire crackled in the dark tonight
As we sit here holding tight tonight
To the past we've tried so hard to fight
Always letting go, but holding on tonight.

I liked the realism in this one, it rang true.

thanks for the response

this one came straight from the heart, with quite a bit of inpiration from life.  It's hard to let go and move on when you keep falling back into the old games.

Yes it is hard to hold on and even harder to let go....
There is always the possibility the new fire might burn you so much more

Time flies? Say it not so, time stays we go.

CUDDLEZ: there is always that thought that there is someone else who can make the fire burn, but as they say history has a way of repeating itself, and a comfort level is hard to get rid of.... It all about gaining the strenght to try something new, and it's slowly happening.

Wayoutwalt:  Thank you so much for responding!!  Glad you liked it

It's a scary feeling not knowing where something may lead you to.  Will they be there the next day, or are they only there for the short hours right now.  A feeling I know too well...  Thanks for reading, and I'm sorry you're going through the same thing!!
