Lost In Time

With music to drown out my thoughts
and the moon watching overhead
memories began to lose their meaning.

I gave my heart to the breeze
and painted over myself in new,
allowing nothing to interfere in time.

Constant are my thoughts, always
words to pacify me, cleanse,
healing the self-esteem:

"I am sometimes in awe of my acomplishments
while always knowing, my best is still to come
and I rest, assured in tomorrow, that will be."

With each stroke, I cover my anger,
my hurt streaking for one more coating,
tears wetting the wet, waiting to dry.

The air warms, touches my cheeks, dries the tears
as my eyes seek out the old beneath,
as another layer is placed on top.

Traffic drones by, a blending buzz,
a humming in tune, as my mind recalls the words
and my voice sings out what use to be.

The phone rings, the hammers pound
busses unload,  as this day begins it's end
and I hear nothing but my past,

See nothing but my future and
in my present, I am in between,
and lost in time...

~Wynter

The complexity of peeling away layers makes for good poetry, I am only sorry I felt that this was the basis of this piece which was very well done.  Thank you for a good read.

Wynter - I am of the past, present, and future. Name the time, and I will meet you there.

a good friend reminded me of those in-between moments, and remember in-between rhymes with Maureen and Kathleen!
