Poetry Sucks

by Michael

I often find
that poetry sucks
the heart dry,
that it can fill the pen
with passionís words.

For only in the heart
can poems be born.

This ink is made
from mournful tears,
lovemakingís scent,
laughter, fear
and
all the rest.

The beauty
of this precious ink
is we can shine our best.

Write on,
fellow poets
and
shine.

(sorry about the title)

"Love is space and time measured by the heart"

Well you got my attention...and this was certainly true, it does suck you dry!  And thanks for saying it like it is, as you always seem to do so well.  I really liked this one.

You startled me for a minute. Earlier today I had seen where someone had written those same sentiments except theirs was rude and childish. I just couldn't believe you would write mean things. Thank goodness yours is the kind we can all be proud to read.

Way to get us to read your poem! Words of wisdom in this piece, nicely done!

I thought I was going to have to pull out Nan's eraser, as well as mine....

and then I saw the name and thought WHAT! Someone has taken our wonderful Auguste's name....

and THEN I thought...wait a minute...THAT can't happen....

and then I READ, and thought..."he's quite the clever fellow...."

you stinker! {~,^}  Shine on, indeed!

Michael--You are so clever...with your "caught you" title...gave me quite a smile...and your poem is wise and true.

Michael,

I agree that all true poetry can only come from the heart, my friend.  By the way, it's good to see you have a sense of humor.

I took the bait. I think, I need some help here getting the hook from my upper lip. Just reel me in. Good one.

Auguste,
you could be a fisherman or at least a fisher of men with this outstanding piece. And yes the title hooked me in.
write on, shine on

Hi Everyone,

Yes, with my "cheesy" title as a "lure," I went fishing.  In doing so, I caught some of the the finest poets at Passions.     Just trying to show that this often serious poet does have a sense of humor.  I'm glad you all enjoyed this, but more than that, I'm glad you came by to say hello.  Take care, dear poets and have a pleasant day.  Thank you much.
